Brief Intervention and Caregiver Support (BICS)

The purpose of BICS is to support caregivers with strategies to stabilize and support children coming into care. The goal is to prevent placement breakdown or, where necessary, address it.  The emphasis is on child development, trauma and support for grief and loss.

We are on call for caregivers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including all holidays.

This program is new for carya and we are pleased to be playing a role in the safe and healthy care of children who are brought into care. The long term goal is to have permanence for these children either with a return to their parental care, move into care of another family member or care through adoption.

This program is in partnership with Calgary & Area Child & Family Services, Catholic Family Services and Calgary Counselling Center.
