Seeking Safety

Trauma is defined as a deeply distressing or disturbing experience or a physical injury. Both require professional help to assist the healing process and find the road back to health.

Life’s challenges can have a significant effect on the way we see ourselves and live our lives. Seeking Safety is a ten-week program that can help you find positive meaning from past challenges.

Seeking Safety is particularly relevant if you are experiencing or struggling with:
  • substance abuse
  • feeling overwhelmed or confused
  • a traumatic event
  • violence
  • abusive relationships
  • self harm
  • depression or anxiety

Seeking Safety sessions will take place on a weekday evening for two-hours at a time in a central location. Clients will be divided into appropriate age and gender groupings to ensure clients are comfortable in their counselling environment.

The program follows a curriculum made up of 25 topics including:
  • taking back your power
  • managing substance use
  • setting boundaries in relationships
  • taking good care of yourself
  • respecting your time
  • coping with triggers
  • detatching from emotional pain

Seeking Safety will help you find a way to a future that is better than your past.

This program is based on Seeking Safety curriculum.
