A school-based program that helps develop confidence and leadership skills
What is Sirius?
Sirius supports girls* as they complete high school and launch into adulthood. In this program, participants have the opportunity to:
- celebrate their individuality and unique abilities
- learn new skills in a safe and supportive environment
- become leaders and collaborate with peers and allies
- find meaningful ways to improve their community
Sirius is a pilot program offered by carya to girls in grades 10 and 11, in partnership with the United Way Women’s Leadership Council’s All in For Girls initiative.
Our focus for this program is to support girls to reach a place of increased confidence, resiliency, and leadership in their community, with the ultimate goal being that the girls complete high school and successfully launch into adulthood.
The program aids girls in developing life skills and provides them with opportunities to practice these skills through community projects they identify as areas of interest within their communities. Through these experiences, girls will make connections with their peers, community members, and volunteer allies.
Together they will create healthy, more connected communities where all girls and women thrive.
This program is offered in partnership with the Calgary Board of Education in two designated high schools. The program is specifically for girls in those schools only.
