We know family relationships can be hard.
Offered in partnership with Kindred, Functional Family Therapy (FFT) is an internationally recognized family model that looks at the strengths of the entire family to help build a foundation of acceptance and respect.
Rather than the blame being on one specific person, FFT works with the whole family to acknowledge the hurt and pain families are going through, while still holding people accountable, and teaches families a new way of doing things. It isn’t always easy, but our therapists are there to help guide you through the process and on to better days ahead. We want you and your family to feel empowered to handle the challenges life throws at you.
What to expect?
Functional Family Therapy is a unique way of working with families that specializes in the most challenging family circumstances. With the focus being on the whole family, it is expected that all family members directly involved in the child’s life participate in all sessions.
Over the course of 3-5 months, your therapist will meet with you and your family once a week, to understand the family dynamics, and work with you to personalize your sessions to meet your family’s needs.

Is there a cost?
Carya provides barrier-free counselling services which are subsidized to ensure cost is never prohibitive
We were provided with Functional Family Therapy when one of my teenagers was in crisis and had undergone several hospitalizations. Our involvement in family therapy not only helped get us through a period where we were at risk of falling apart, but it also gave us skills and ways to engage with each other that got us through intact.
