Your relationships matter – and so does your mental health.
Family dynamics can play a crucial role in shaping who we are today. The key to solid family bonds is having healthy relationships and strong connections between caregivers and children. When a family functions well together, children feel secure and seen. These family dynamics provide essential benefits such as improved mental health, strong communication skills, and reduced levels of stress, which can prevent negative experiences in childhood.
Carya’s Family Counselling program provides brief therapeutic counselling services to families with children (24 years and younger) who face barriers to accessing mental health services and supports, addressing a broad scope of individual or family related issues.
Our therapists support families, and individuals actively parenting to navigate some of their most difficult moments in life. With our family-focused approach, our therapists support you in building a healthier and more supportive environment for your family, recognizing that individual well-being is intricately linked to the functioning of the family system.
What to expect?
Carya’s Family Counselling uses evidence-based practices to ensure that we meet your family’s unique needs. In your first session, our therapists will listen and learn about what is important to you and will work with you to develop a customized approach to help make your goals actionable. Sessions typically run once a week or every two weeks, for approximately 8-10 sessions.
Our therapists can help you with a variety of concerns, including:
- Mental health challenges such as depression and anxiety
- Relationship problems and family conflict
- Separation, divorce, and other parenting challenges
- Grief and loss
- Anger and Stress
- Life transitions
If children are involved in counselling, all decision-making parents will need to consent to their child(ren) being seen.
I went from being in a toxic marriage to being counselled through the ending of that relationship, all while learning how to be the best parent for my young children. Having free therapy during a sensitive time when I could not afford it – but absolutely needed it – was life-changing and necessary for my mental health and my children’s well-being. Carya and their therapists have changed the direction of our lives, I went from barely surviving to thriving.
