Functioning Families Together (FFT)
Every family can experience challenges that get in the way of living up to values like safety, belonging, peace and respect. You are not alone. We can help.
If your family is experiencing challenge and conflict, FFT is here to help. FFT works to improve family relationships and manage family conflict through a relationship-based approach.
Functioning Families Together (FFT) is a preventative, short-term program. We work with families of youth, aged 7 to 11 years old, who are at risk of or are currently experiencing:
- school truancy
- mental health concerns
- criminal involvement
- substance abuse
- family conflict
The FFT counsellor works with your family to assess and change interactions that are contributing to the problem. The program helps family members learn new skills and better connect with one another. Participants will learn how to improve and achieve:
- Family communication
- Trust and respect
- Negotiating more effectively
- Increased supportive behaviors
- Clear rules about privileges and responsibilities
- Stronger family relationships
Counsellors work with families to build skills, strengthening connections to support youth to stay in school and make healthier life choices.
FFT is an evidence-based program. It is a collaboration between carya and Catholic Family Service who offer this service for families with youth ages 12-18.
