Tax Clinics

We understand that knowing what you need to file your income taxes can be overwhelming.

Through the Community Volunteer Income Program, Carya offers free tax filing services for low-income seniors and individuals on Income Support or AISH.

Our tax clinic volunteers will help guide you through the process with our drop-in package and completing the required paperwork. The only things you need to bring with you are your T4 slip(s) and a valid photo ID

What to expect?

Once a tax clinic volunteer has completed your income taxes, they will be reviewed by a member from The Way In, who will contact you when your completed income tax package is available for pick up. The typical turnaround time is approximately 1-2 weeks.

Your completed income tax package will include your original t-slips and a printed summary of the information that has been electronically submitted on your behalf by one of our tax volunteers to the CRA.

Carya does not keep copies of your t-slips, nor do we keep a copy of the printed summary on file. We encourage you to keep these documents in a safe place at home.

Refunds: Carya does not issue the tax refund. Any refunds issued will come directly from the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) by auto-deposit or cheque.

Owing money: If there is an amount owed, our tax clinic volunteers will provide you with a statement outlining the amount owed, the due date, and steps that should be taken along with your completed income tax package.
