National Volunteer Week 2021

Thank You From The CEO

In celebration of National Volunteer Week 2021, I wanted to take a moment to extend a warm and heartfelt thank you to our incredibly generous volunteers.

2020 – and now 2021 – have been years like no other. And the need for mental health supports, connection, and family support has only increased.

carya has continued to meet the need in the community  – supporting over 40,000 Calgarians annually – thanks to the many heroes and helpers in our community like you. Thank you!

As a carya volunteer myself – previously through the Sirius program and most recently as a member of the Board – I know the many benefits of volunteerism, and also recognize how generously you give of yourselves to ensure that together, we can continue to uncover strength in our communities and neighbours

Volunteers are an essential resource without which the services of organizations like carya would not be possible. But I know – and you know – that volunteerism has other amazing benefits. It gives us purpose, builds connection and increases our joy through service to others. Now that is something amazing to celebrate!

Sign up for our newsletter, and follow us on social media so you can hear from us about new volunteer opportunities at carya.

With deep appreciation and gratitude,

Theresa Watson
Interim CEO, carya

ps: Our new Village Commons community hub in East Village is opening soon and we are recruiting for a team of Warm Welcomers who will greet and invite people into the space, helping them find their way and making them feel at home. Find out more here
