A New Lift, A Stronger Community

Enhancing Accessibility at Bowmont Commons

At Carya, we believe every person deserves to feel welcomed, included, and supported—without barriers.

Thanks to the generous support of the Rotary Club of Calgary Downtown, Rotary Club of Calgary Centennial, and Rotary Club of Calgary North, our Bowmont Commons location is now more accessible than ever.

The recent installation of a stairlift opens access to the lower level of the building, empowering more community members with mobility challenges — particularly older adults — to fully participate in our programs.

This meaningful upgrade builds on existing features, including an exterior ramp and accessible washroom, and reflects our continued commitment to inclusive, community-driven spaces.

With increased accessibility, we expect even more individuals will be able to attend Carya programs that help them connect with others, reduce isolation, and improve their quality of life.

But this project is about more than just a stairlift. It is about creating a community where people of all abilities can thrive.

We are deeply grateful to our Rotary partners. Their generous support continues to open doors and create lasting impact in the Bowness-Montgomery community and beyond by increasing the accessibility of Carya’s programming spaces.
